As a part of a worldwide movement,
Scripture Union in the Republic of Ireland is an interdenominational organisation
working in partnership with churches and schools bringing God’s word to the people of Ireland.

ABOUT US

With a history in Ireland going back to 1896, Scripture Union is an international Christian movement founded in 1867. It is a non profit organisation and a registered Irish Charity (CHY NO. 5875).

Taking God’s word as our authority, Christ as our model and the Holy Spirit as our guide, Scripture Union is an interdenominational organisation seeking to:

  • Communicate the good news of Jesus Christ to children
    and young people
  • Encourage people of all ages to meet God through bible reading and prayer
  • Develop children and young people for Christian service
  • Equip those working with children and young people
    with training and resources
Scripture Union seeks to serve and support people of all ages, especially young people, to find purpose and meaning in life through faith in Christ.

As we work out these principles in partnership with all Christian denominations and churches, we engage in the following activities:

  • Residential Camps & Outdoor Pursuits
  • Holiday activities
  • School Retreats
  • Retail distribution of Bibles and a wide range of Christian literature
  • Distribution of resources for schools, churches, children and youth ministries.
  • Training and Development of our Volunteers

Jim Donnan

In accordance with our basis of faith and we seek to promote Christian character and values and encourage a healthy lifestyle through participation in our activities. Our prayer is that people will grow in their Christian faith and so may become committed church members and servants to a world in need.

Our key resource is a small number of dedicated staff and a large number of equally committed volunteers from many different Christian backgrounds. The organisation is directed by a Council and led by Jim Donnan, General Director.
