My
name is Sarah-Jane Taylor and I have been appointed as the Greystones
Community youth worker. I have been actively involved in Youth ministry for the past 10 years. My passion for youth came from the years I thought I could do this life thing on my own.
After making a mess of things through bad choices, I decided to see if the church could help me out of the mess. I got involved in my faith and was fortunate to get involved in a great youth club where the leaders led me to God and supported and encouraged me to make wiser, informed choices.
Over the next few years as I matured and volunteered in youth ministry, I found an amazing new way of life: focusing on God and the needs of those around me.
Over the past 5 years, I have been working full time in youth ministry. I have pioneered youth focused projects, developed youth resources such as interactive faith based DVDs, for use in and outside of church, trained youth leaders and developed youth clubs for local churches. I have also been very involved in secondary schools running faith based retreat teams throughout the country and led teams to Africa to work on various projects with orphanages in Lesotho.
I am very excited about this role and all the challenges and opportunities it will offer. Local churches have a lot to offer every community, and through my role, the youth leaders of Greystones will be resourced and supported and we can combine our efforts to have a greater impact on the local community. I ask for your prayers at this time as the churches and groups work together to impact the youth and community of Greystones.
This initiative is supported in Greystones by Scripture Union, the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of Ireland, the Presbyterian Church, Hillside Evangelical Church, Nazarene Community Church, Greystones Community Church, the YWCA and by many individuals. The YWCA have kindly provided office space and a meeting room. Visit my website: www.greystonesyouth.com for more details
